To provide training and education on modern behavioral science and leadership theories used by law enforcement leaders to increase credibility with followers and effectiveness within their organizations.
Field Training Leadership
This course will focus on the Field Training Officer’s role as the first level of leadership within a public safety organization. Curriculum and class participation will emphasize learning and application of leadership concepts and skills. Specifically, this course will feature 3 days of leadership instruction provided by AZPOST, and 1-day of instruction provided by the Thin Blue Line of Leadership LLC. focusing on adult learning concepts, decision making, and debriefing scenarios. Course delivery will include power-point presentations, in-class exercises, discussions, and scenario analyses.
Basic Leadership Academy
This course is designed specifically to better prepare first line police leaders for success in their assignments. Curriculum includes a hybrid virtual/in-person delivery modality and offers relevant curriculum delivered by nationally recognized law enforcement leadership instructors. Students will complete the first four-week phase of legal and liability curriculum prior to attending the week of in-person training. It is anticipated that the student will need approximately four hours per week to effectively complete the online phase of this training. During the in-person phase of training, students will be exposed to concepts that challenge them to continually assess their own leadership effectiveness throughout their leadership journey.
Executive Leadership Program
This course will expose executive-level law enforcement professions to various topics that affect the police culture internally, within the global organization, and in the community. Guest lecturers and professionals representing municipal government, private industry, educational institutions, and the field of mental health will deliver thought provoking content intended to challenge the executive leader in assessing their role in influencing police culture.
