Training FAQ

Can an agency send a civilian employee to an AZPOST Class?

Answer

Not normally, Peace Officer Training Funds (POTF) are only authorized for certified peace officers. On rare occasions, if a class is not full and does not have a waiting list, an agency may be allowed to send a civilian employee. When civilians are allowed in a class, all lodging and per diem must be paid for by the agency.

How many seats does an agency get in an AZPOST class if they are successful in the lottery?

Answer

One seat for agencies with 99 or less officers, two seats for agencies with 100 or more officers. Occasionally, classes with unlimited seating will be announced.

Can you obtain a replacement "certificate" for an instructor class for an officer who has misplaced it?

Answer

No, Instructor Certificates are a one-time issue to the student upon completion of the class.

What time do classes start?

Answer

Class times are part of the training announcement located in the ASSC system.

What time will I be able to get into the building and which door?

Answer

The student entrance door is located at the northwest corner of the building, It is unlocked at 7:15 am on class days.

Where should officers park when attending classes at AZPOST?

Answer

The student parking lot is located out back or the southwest side of the building.

Can an agency issue POST credits for e-learning training?

Answer

An agency may issue a PA-3 form for CONTINUING education credits for any e-learning program distributed on an e-larning platform that has an interactive component and a testing component.  E-learning distributions cannot be used for proficiency credits.
